Proposals

Proposals. Manuals. Lately, at work (I'm a computer trainer), all I've been doing is writing these things. Proposals to get people to hire us to train them. Manuals for the stuff they want to learn when they do hire us.

"Proposal" is a very weird term to me. I propose, they accept or they deny. I can't help but think about marriage: here I am, a few days from being 29 years old, and I'm at that age when most of my friends are getting married (and some are getting divorced).

But I'm certainly not ready for the on-your-knee kind of proposal myself, yet. (Or am I? Every time I see my friends who have little kids, I feel my own heart tick louder than normal.) For me, the most basic proposal between two people is the first date, right?

He:
Umm, I was kinda wondering if, maybe, if you're not too busy... because there's this movie... and, you know.
She:
Sorry, I'm washing my hair this month.
But I can't let that stand as ending. Instead:
She:
I'd love to!
He:
Great, I'll pick you up at...hey, where do you live, anyway?

I need to start making some more proposals.

And now I walk off towards the mountains, feeling tired...
